Jay hasn't done his Christmas shopping yet, so he decided to go today. On a Saturday. In December. I said to him "are you sure you really want to do this?" LOL He asked if I wanted to go along, because he and Austin were going to run to Des Moines. I said I'd ride along and oh my, to call what we saw "Craziness" is actually a complete understatement! We went to Jordan Creek Mall in WDM. Total insanity was running wild in that place! People were everywhere! I did have one gift card I needed to still get so I went in to the store, but as soon as I saw there were 4 checkout clerks and literally at least 15-20 people waiting in each line to check out, I decided I wait and get it in Ames this next week.
I did need a new pair of NB shoes that I wanted to get at Scheels. I have worn this same brand and style for a few years now and they work great for the foot problems I have, plus I don't have to spend lots of extra time trying to figure out which ones to get. So, I go into Scheels and found a guy working in the shoe dept and I told him what shoes I wanted and what size. He brought them out and said "You've bought these before haven't you. I can tell because you knew exactly what you wanted, no questions asked." He then said "Since you made this so easy on me, I am going to make things easier for you too. See how long those 2 checkout lines are?" (There were honestly 30 or more people in each one!). "You want to go to the other end of the store, or even go upstairs to the checkouts up there. You're wait will be MUCH shorter!" I thanked him for that info and went to the other end and sure enough, the lines were amazingly shorter. As a matter of fact, I chose a lane and as I walked up to it, the person ahead of me was done and voila, I was helped with no wait at all. I had to laugh thinking of all those people at the other end waiting and waiting in those insanely long lines. LOL
Poor Jay was so ready to get out of that mall that I kept teasing him by saying "it'll be ok honey, just breathe". LOL That's exactly why I don't take him shopping when I do all the other Christmas shopping. He'd never handle it.
So, now our Christmas shopping is complete. No more to do (well, except to grab that one gift card next week). The only thing left to do is to wrap it all. It was much nicer when my girls were younger...I could pay them $1.00 per gift for them to wrap them for me. They now dislike the job as much as I do and have raised their rates high enough that they know I won't pay it, so I have to do it myself. LOL
Before I go, I thought I'd show you the cute picture someone made for me. Isn't it a riot? LOL
