Weather Complaint

Ok, a major whinefest is going to take place in here in 5, 4, 3 (get out quick...you still have time!) 2, 1.

Ok...you were warned!

First a question. Why do we need snow? Seriously? I know God in his infinite wisdom made all things, and I don't mean any disrespect, but come on...God, you think you just mighta goofed with this one? Yes, I know we need moisture. That's called "rain". There isn't a single plant, flower, animal or human that will die from a lack of snow. And while we're at it...what's up with freezing rain? What good is that? Do the angels enjoy a good chuckle at our expense while we're slipping and sliding trying to walk on ice? We look like toddlers just learning to take our first steps and we fall down just about as often. I can hear the angels up there now "Oh wow...look at that lady over there, she's going down any second, watch..watch!"

When I asked a friend why we needed snow she said "Well if for no other reason, we need snow because it makes everything so beautiful." My response was "So do tropical flowers...what's your point?" So she said "For one thing...you HAVE to have snow on Christmas." I said "Uh, no you don't. I grew up having plenty of Christmas' with no snow and don't feel I suffered any lasting trauma from it. Plus, Mary gave birth on that first Christmas in a barn. No insulation on the barn, no space heaters...just a barn and some straw. Nothing has ever been mentioned in the bible about frostbite or hypothermia, so I'm guessing it wasn't too terribly cold there, which means if it was good enough for them to not have any snow on the very first Christmas, then it's good enough for me!" She couldn't argue with that one.

Another friend said "Just think, without snow we would have never gotten to hear the wonderful Christmas songs we have." Sure we could still have them. Bing could have sang about Dreaming of a warm Chrstmas and I'm sure it would have been just as pretty. Dashing through the fields would have been just as nice in Jingle Bells and Let it Rain, Let it Rain, Let it Rain sounds much better to me, because we don't have to shovel rain!

So, in closing, if I could have just one wish for this Christmas, it would be that I would never ever EVER have to drive, shovel, scoop, pick at, chop, scrape, dust with salt or attempt to walk on snow or ice again in my lifetime. That's not too much to ask is it?
