Organization

It's time for a news flash. You may want to sit down for this one. Are you ready? Ok, here goes:
I am not an organized person.
Wow, I heard the bodies fall over from shock on that one. LOL OK, So that really wasn't much of a surprise to any of you who know me. I try to be organized, I really do. I will take the time needed and get everything organized and I am so proud. Then life happens and not everyone in the home is as excited about keeping things organized as I am and well, it doesn't take long for things to become chaos again. But I keep trying.

Now that Thanksgiving, State Dance competition, Christmas, New Years, sending my daughters to Florida, and my bouncing off the concrete are over with I felt I had time to get organized again. Actually, it was more like since I had been told by both my Doctor and Chiropractor to take it easy and not do much of anything for a couple of weeks, I felt boredom setting in, so I figured what the heck...let's try organizing again.

I went into my office and saw that most of the mass chaos in there was due to the ever increasing amount of items that will be needed for Confirmation and Graduation that will occur in a few months, so I felt that was as good a place to start as any.

As I started thinking about what was done (not much) and was still needed to be done(a lot) for both those occassions, it became apparent that being organized was much more of a NEED instead of just a want. So, being the Queen of Organization became my goal.

I headed to Wally World and bought a 3-ring binder, notebook paper, post it notes, page dividers, page protectors, 2 pencil pouches that fit in those types of binders (one for pens, pencils, etc and the other for holding small receipts) and an accordian type file folder. I also printed up my own calendars on the computer for the months leading up to May and they included all the activities and things we have going on until then.

I told Ashley & Chelsea that since we have a LOT to do before then, I did not want to hear arguing or complaining when it came time to discuss anything to do with graduation, or all the planning would be completely left up to me and I think pink & purple tulle/organza draped all around the house would be so pretty. I was kidding, but the look on their faces let me know they were afraid I was serious (which was my plan). LOL

I have it set up so that Sunday evening is "planning meeting night". I have a sheet hanging on the fridge that just says Graduation on it. All week long, anyone that has any questions, suggestions, ideas, comments, frustrations or whatver that they want discussed at the next meeting writes it on that sheet. Then when we sit down on Sunday evening we can go over those things. Ashley & Chelsea were very receptive to that idea and have been great about talking through things.

Austin however, is a true " guys guy". He could care less about any details, except for what food he wants at lunch time. Yep, he's a guy alright. LOL He is one who never has any homework, but so far has begged to go first and get his part of the meeting over with because he has a lot of homework. hhhmmm....could it be that he's not into this like his sisters and I are? LOL

So, this is our attempt to be organized. We'll see how it goes. But so far it's going pretty well. I'm just not sure what we'll do when the ever growing pile outgrows my office. Guess then we'll have to invade Jays office. LOL
