We're getting ice this morning. It really is pretty the way it covers the trees and buildings. When the sunlight reflects off it, it sparkles. It's so clean and pure and..........
yea, ok...enough. I'm lying. It's ugly. It's nasty. It's cold. It's slippery. It makes me walk funny. I can't drive anywhere and in case I haven't mentioned it before, it makes me walk funny!
Think about it. Have you ever seen someone walking on a pure smooth sheet of ice and doing it gracefully? Nope. They look like they did back when they were a toddler just learning to walk. Tiny slow steps, arms straight out to the side and their eyes are the size of oranges. They don't talk and the don't look up. They are focused. Focused on putting one step in front of the other. Focused on not slipping or falling. Focused on not getting hurt. Focused on not being someones entertainment.
Be honest...if you see someone ahead of you (or anywhere in view) and they are slipping and sliding, do you run over and sprinkle sand in front of them so they can get their bearings? No way, you stop what your doing and watch. Why? Because the first thought that comes to your mind is "Oh wow, I may need to cal 911". No way...your first thought is "Oh wow, this is gonna be gooooooooood." Once that person does fall down you wait a brief second to be sure they aren't seriously hurt, and then you let out a series of giggles or belly laughs until doing so makes you fall down as well.
I've heard they are saying the ice will end very soon and the temps will warm up enough to melt the ice this afternoon. I sure hope so. I plan to go to the gym this afternoon and doing squats with a bruised butt is not fun!
