Gabby
Gabriella (Gabby) is our 7 yr old Bichon Frise, whom we've had since she was 8 weeks old. Let me just say that Gabby is one of the most sensitive dogs I have ever met. What I'm referring to is that I swear she can understand me and knows what I'm thinking. If I am crying for any reason, or just feeling down, she'll jump up on my lap, lay her head against my chest and look straight up at me as if to say "It's ok, I'm here."
Her eyes look at you as if she really understands what you are saying to her. Not so much the actual words, but the feeling behind those words.
She even has her own "security blankets" AKA: her small stuffed toys. She is almost always carrying one in her mouth. When she lays down somewhere, there is usually a toy laying down right beside her, or sometimes she'll even lay them under her chin and rest her head on the toy.
Last night I woke up with my mind racing, thinking of all the things I needed to do yet before this weekend. Gabby was laying down by my feet and she walked up towards me, plopped down with her head on my chest and let out a big sigh...and it made me stop and think "That's just what I need to do - stop and let out a big sigh." So I did. And she was right...I did feel better.
