Anna Arrives Tonight

Our host student, Anna, left her home in a suburb of Barcelona and traveled to Madrid to fly out. It was very early in the morning, their time, so it would have been sometime last night our time. She flies from Madrid to Atlanta and then to Minneapolis (the same route Ashley took when she went over there last Summer). We are really excited to have her finally coming, since we have known we were having someone come for quite a while now.

She seems to be a very sweet girl. She and Ashley talk on instant messaging almost daily, and she tells Ashley how she is getting more and more nervous. She also has said that she is sorry for any words she might pronounce wrong, and she's sorry if she doesn't always understand us and things like that. She said she is a little shy at first when not knowing anyone, but I know that with Ashley & Chelsea around she won't be shy for long.

We are desperately in need of groceries, but I don't know what things Anna likes to eat. While I know she is to adapt to our way of life, including eating, I don't want her poor tummy completely upset at the change all at once. So, I am holding off until tomorrow and then she, Ashley & I are going to the store together. I want Ashley there so that if there is something I can't get Anna to understand, Ashley can translate for her (we're not supposed to do that so ssshhhh).

We got some bad news however regarding the kids coming from Spain. Originally they were to fly into Minneapolis at around 6-6:30pm. Our Spanish teacher and her husband will pick them up and drive them to our high school where we will meet them. It was planned that after getting their luggage and getting them something to eat (the teacher said that all the kids were all telling their teacher they wanted to eat at the American McDonalds LOL), they would be at the school around 10pm. Well, as of yesterday Delta has changed their travel plans. They now won't be getting to Minneapolis until 2-2 1/2 hrs later, so that means we won't be picking them up until around midnite! Ugh! While it's bad enough that it'll be so late, I feel bad because it'll be kind of like "Welcome to America. Good night, we'll see you in the morning." Oh well..at least it's not 3am. LOL

I'll post updates on how things are going with Anna. If this experience goes as well as we hope it will, it'll probably be something we'd like to do the next few summers while Austin is at home.

Oh, and on a side note...speaking of Austin, I have to brag for a moment...my future golf pro son got 2nd at a golf tournament this past Sunday. Look out Tiger Woods, Austin's coming! Winky
