The Biggest Loser Recap - 9/16

I am a huge fan of the hit NBC show "The Biggest Loser". For those of you who don't know what this show is about, it's basically a game show to see who can lose the most weight. They used to do individuals that were divided into 2 teams through the whole season, but now they have teams of 2 that are weeded out until you get down to individuals.
The show starts with an initial weigh-in. The one thing I have never ever liked about this show is how the men wear a t-shirt and shorts to the weigh-in location, remove the shirt to weigh, and then put their shirts back on. The women wear a sports bra and shorts. They have no shirt. It has to be humiliating and embarassing for these poor women to have to be seen like that. Why can't they have a shirt they remove to get weighed, and then they can put it back on like the men do? You see many of them over the years, pulling their shorts up as high as possible, or standing there with their arms folded as if trying to hide their stomach area. It's not fair.
Ok, back to the weigh-in. They are also given a series of tests by doctors to guage their initial starting health level. They are continually monitored throughout the season to be sure they aren't risking their health with things they do. Each week they weigh-in and the 2 teams/individuals with the lowest percentage of weight loss are up for elimination. The other teams/individuals vote on who they want to have go home.
The show has 2 trainers: Bob & Jillian. Both are excellent. Both are tough. But personally, Jillian would make me cry. She barks right in the faces of her clients and I wouldn't be able to handle that. I'd prefer Bob who would reassure me that feeling like I want to die while on the treadmill is totally natural and that it'll all be ok. And it would end with him telling me how great I'm doing. Jillian on the other hand would be yelling that the only way I'm getting off that treadmill is to die and then she'd growl at me. See the difference here?
Since I am such a huge fan, I am going to do a recap of how I feel each episode went. Feel free to join in with your own thoughts and comments, unless you are Jillian. In which case, I'm sorry girlie, but you scare me, and this is a no yelling at me zone.
Ok, this week was just the initial "Getting To Know You" episode, so I don't really find myself rooting for a team yet. Although I am rooting for Jerry who is on the yellow Father/Daughter team. This poor man is in such bad health due to his obesity that he is currently only allowed 30 min of exercise a day. The other contestants due hours of exercise each day. I'm rooting for him to get his health back.
I'm glad that Adam & Stacey, the Husband/Wife green team went home. Ms. Stacey was already feeling a little overly confident, as was her dear hubby and the other teams obviously felt that as well because as it went down the line as to who to vote off the show, it was unanimously green.
So there you have it. I'm so excited this show is back on. It always helps motivate me to exercise, and this season is no exception. I woke up off and on all night long hearing the theme song in my head:
Proud
I look into the window of my mind
Reflections of the fears I know I've left behind
I step out of the ordinary
I can feel my soul ascending
I am on my way
Can't stop me now
And you can do the same
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
It's never too late to try
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
You could be so many people
If you make that break for freedom
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
Still so many answers I don't know
Realize that to question is how we grow
So I step out of the ordinary
I can feel my soul ascending
I am on my way
Can't stop me now
And you can do the same
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
It's never too late to try
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
You could be so many people
If you make that break for freedom
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
We need a change
Do it today
I can feel my spirit rising
We need a change
So do it today
'Cause I can see a clear horizon
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
So what have you done today to make you feel proud?
'Cause you could be so many people
If you make that break for freedom
So what have you done today to make you feel proud?
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
What have you done today
You could be so many people?
Just make that break for freedom
So what have you done today to make you feel proud?
