Long, Busy, Fun Weekend

As I stated in my Saturday post, we were camping this past weekend. We just got home recently and I am very tired. But it's a good tired. It's the kind of tired you get from staying up with friends around a campfire until 2am every night and laughing so hard your sides ache. That's such an awesome tired and I love every second of it.
We started off the weekend by attending the first high school football game of the season and watching Austin in the marching band. He refused to let me take my camera, so I will have to find a way to smuggle it in at another game. It's still so hard to believe my "baby" is in high school and marching with the 'big kids' as he used to call them.

On Saturday we went to Ashley's college. They had their first football game of the season as well, and we went to watch her dance. It was 90 degrees, not a cloud in the sky and we sat on metal bleachers for 3+hrs, sweating like mad, and I wouldn't have traded a second for it. I loved watching her talking and laughing with her new friends. Some young guys in the crowd even hollared out "Gooooo Ashley, Wooohooo!" and she giggled and gave them a thumbs up. That made daddy a little nervous LOL, but I love seeing her so happy. The dance team danced on the sidelines and then they performed a half-time routine. Their new outfits are still back-ordered so they wore plain outfits with jazz shoes. The blacktop they stood on burned through the thin fabric of those shoes and their feet were bright red by the time the game was over. They all did such a great job though! I was so proud!

On Sunday we had our last 4-H meeting. It really was our l-a-s-t one. I
have been a leader for this club for 9 yrs. My girls have been members of this club for 9 yrs. My son has been a member of this club for 5 yrs. The girls have graduated out of the program and Austin is moving on to a different program. Therefore, my time as a leader has come to an end. I have enjoyed being a leader for the most part. It was something that I could do with my kids -another family activity that we could enjoy together. The sad part to me is not only are we done, but the club is done. We couldn't get any parents to take over as volunteer leaders, so the club has dissolved. The remaining kids will join other clubs and our club will be gone forever.

Today, Chelsea was in a horse show at our local saddle club arena. It was hot, but thank you dear God for keeping a breeze going all day long, because that helped so much! As long as you stayed in the shade, it wasn't too bad. Chelsea did a great job. She didn't ride in too many classes, but this was the first time she was in classes with other adults and not in the youth classes, and that was an adjustment for her. She did win one of her classes and came home with a trophy, so that was pretty cool. While she had fun, she said it did feel "different" not being one of the kids any more. She said "Well, I guess it's official. I'm a grown-up now."

In between all of this we spent time at the campground in our area. The fun part is that it had to be almost 80% local people, so we knew tons of people there. Last night a couple of friends and I went on a walk around the campground to stop and talk to all the people we knew. We also spent a lot of time laughing so hard that at times you could barely breathe. A popular comment heard all weekend when someone would be laughing really hard was "I'm gonna wet my pants!" LOL We laughed about every imaginable thing: fishing, ducks, husbands, kids, punch passes, and any of the bazillion blonde comments I made - and trust me, there were many!

It made all the things I mentioned being thankful for, even better blessings for me. And now I'm off to collapse into bed.
