Pardon Me While I....

...call our electric company again.

In a recent post I mentioned that our security yard light had burned out: I Am Afraid Of The Dark. A "hero" finally stopped by and fixed it for us, and I was so happy that I thought about running out to give him a hug, but stopped for three reasons:

1. He might have been afraid of some strange woman running out and grabbing him, which means I might have gotten maced.

2. He WAS touching electric stuff. Finger-In-The-Light-Socket hairstyles don't look very nicely on me.

3. I just know the local newspaper man would have been driving by, seen the hug, taken a picture and I would have been front page center, since we really have no other news in these parts. Scandalous!

Regardless, I'm glad I didn't give him a hug after all, because he just teased me. He made it appear the light was fixed and as I sat there anxiously and excitedly waiting for nightfall so I could go out and dance around the light pole singing"This Little Light Of Mine", it became apparent by 9pm that this was not going to happen. The light never came on. I thought perhaps it was something that needed to warm up slowly since it was a new light, but nope. No light occured. I started to get a little scared as it grew darker and there was still no light. Unfortunately it was a long holiday weekend and we couldn't get anyone to come out because according to them, this was not emergency, no matter how much I cried. Thankfully we were going to be away camping, so it wasn't too big of an issue, and to be honest, for a few days I forgot about it.

Then last night we came home and it started to get darker and darker. ACK! There was no light - still. I now remembered what I had forgotten - we had no security light!

I am now on the phone and and am on hold with the electric company (remember watching that show after Sesame Street? Sing with me ~The Electric Companyyyyyyyy-yyyy - ok Dena focus....). I have been on hold for exactly 7 minutes and 14 seconds, 15, 16, 17....
