Curi's Got A New Home

I've talked about our kennel office cat "Curi" (short for Curiosity). She's 10 yrs old and used to be one of our outdoor farm cats, but she's too sweet and submissive and as she gets older, wild and younger cats would show up and not let her eat and she'd get all beat up.

About 5 years ago, we moved her into the kennel office to live. Jay built a ramp up around the top of the room, which she has loved. The ramp came down to the front counter where she would come down and greet clients constantly, and if a dog was too friendly or aggressive, she would run back up the ramp and get away from them. The kennel is now closed, and Curi has still lived in there. I go over there every day to feed her and spend time with her, but as of today that will change. Chelsea's apartment allows small pets and she asked if Curi could go live with her. I love that Curi will actually get to be in a home and I know without a doubt that she will quickly be the most spoiled cat ever (yes, even more spoiled than having her own ramp), as Chelsea's roommate is just as excited about having her come as Chelsea is.

But, I do have to admit, that I'm going to miss seeing Curi everyday like I have for the past 10 years. While I don't mind cats, Curi is by far my favorite of any we've ever had. She's actually more like a dog (which is probably why I like her so much). She comes when you call her. She isn't aloof at all, and loves attention and being held and cuddled. She takes treats from your hand and she is just so sweet. I remind her all the time that cats aren't supposed to be like that, but I'm glad she is.

Chelsea moved into her new apartment yesterday and I will be taking Curi down after we are done with the state fair. I'll wait until Chelsea gets off work and that way she'll be there to help get her all settled in. I know it'll take a few days for Curi to get used to her new surroundings, but she loves Chelsea, so that will make the adjustment easier.

Enjoy your new home Curi.
