Fantastical Friends

That is the name of the school play that Ashley & Chelsea were in this week. While it's not my first choice of plays for a high school production (too serious and in my opinion doesn't appeal to a broad enough audience such as school age kids and young children), it was a very well performed production.

The basic storyline is there is a boy "Fred" who doesn't like books and someone tells him bits and pieces from great works of literature to show him how exciting books can be. While telling about the books, the different stories come to life.

The first story is "Little Women". Ashley was in that scene. She was "Beth" the young daughter who gets very sick with scarlet fever. Here are a couple of pictures of her:

Then after a few more stories, the next story is Alice's Adventures In Wonderland. Chelsea was in that scene and had the role of Alice. Here are a couple of pictures of her (her pictures are darker because the only light was the spotlight on her...great for effect, lousy for taking pictures):

Here are a couple of pictures of the girls in their costumes: Chelsea is looking all goofy in this first one because her boyfriend was behind me making faces.

We were really proud of both of them and they both did a great job! It was also bitter sweet to know this was their last high school play production. Another mom and I got teary-eyed talking about it after the play. I think these next couple of months are going to get harder and harder.
