Yesterday was Mothers day. Not only that but it was also Austin's 15th birthday (I still can't believe my "baby" is that old!). And it was also Senior recognition Sunday at our church.
Guess what...I basically missed all of it. I had a killer migraine that had me nearly begging anyone to shoot me in the head to end the pain.
I woke up around 4am thinking about our bedroom furniture that still hasn't arrived, and I was thinking about how sad I was that it wasn't here yet. I had hoped it would be here by Graduation, but it doesn't appear that'll be the case. It's not that I think the room looks horrible without those pieces. It's not that I'm trying to impress anyone with those pieces. I just WANT MY FURNITURE! We ordered it last February for crying out loud. I don't think it's too much to ask to have it by now. The more I thought about it, the more sad I got.
About an hour later...a migraine.
I missed going to church. I just knew that the first time I heard the organ play, it would be pounding in my head and I was likely to slap the organist upside the head, which would be extra bad since the organist is Jay's Aunt Julie, and she has volunteered to help out at Graduation. I can't be smacking her if I still want her to help LOL, so I figured it was best to stay home. Jay was sweet and brought me a cool cloth for my forehead and my head scratcher thingy. Not sure what it's called, but it's a bunch of metal "arms" attached at the top of each one. You slide it up and down on your head and it massages your scalp. All I know is that it feels heavenly when I have a migraine. Think of how great it feels when you are at the salon and they wash your hair. That's how good this feels.
So anyhow, Jay takes the kids to church and Ashley & Chelsea go up front with the other seniors to be recognized. They are given a book of scripture readings for the college student, flowers and balloons and there is a reception in their honor in the fellowship hall after church.
Jay calls to see how I'm doing and says they are going with his parents to Pizza Ranch for lunch. I stayed right where I was...holding my head and wishing for unconciousness.
Later it let up for a bit, so we opened Austins gifts. We got him a new stereo for his car (the one in his car doesn't work) and we'll take it down after school is out next week and get it installed. I surprised him and Jay with a gift for them together (Jays birthday is this coming Sunday)...a Wii. They were both so excited. Not sure who the bigger kid is. LOL Ashley is a sweetheart and makes a cake for both Austin & I.
I went back to bed and then later Jays mom came over and helped him plant my Mothers day gifts. I wanted new plants for out front, which we picked out earlier. I only HAVE to keep them alive a week (until Graduation), so I think that's doable. LOL If you think I'm kidding...trust me, I'm not! I really appreciate them getting those planted. Here's what we got - and no, I don't have any idea what kind of plants they are. I chose based on how easy it said they were to care for. LOL
In the evening I was feeling a little better again (although exhausted) so we sang happy birthday
to Austin and then about 30 min later, I was back in bed. Migraines are so taxing on the body that you feel like you've run a marathon. Not that I would have any clue what it feels like to run a marathon, but you get my drift. LOL
So, Happy Birthday to my dear sweet son. The one who has promised me that no matter how old he gets, he'll always be my baby. Happy Mothers Day to my mom, my mom-in-law, and all mothers everywhere. And congratulations to Ashley & Chelsea on their recognition at church.

I appreciate your thoughtfulness, however i do feel there were possibly several that wanted to slap me as i made a few agonizing errors.
What a day to have a migraine! Happy belated mother's day, and tell Austin happy birthday from us. (I didn't even know....I would have sent a card...but I will write it on the calendar for next year.)
