Am I a good mom or a bad mom?

Austin is a part of the junior golf tour in our state. He loves to golf. He eat, sleeps, and breathes golf. He plays daily and never gets tired of it. We don't mind since it's good exercise and it keeps his butt from just laying on the couch all summer long.

Today he has a tournament at a course a little over an hour away. We don't like the idea of dropping him off and leaving him there with it being that far away. It's not like we have to stay right there beside him (which we couldn't do anyway - tour rules - you must stay at least 30 yrds away), but if there were an emergency, we would like to be closer than an hour +. I know, I know...when's the last time you heard of a major emergency or of a severe injury related to golf? But, hey, it could happen.

Jay normally takes him to his tournaments and he does walk along (he likes golf too), but today he has baby pigs coming in all day so he can't. He took him up there this morning (since they had to leave at 5:45am). I was up and did all my morning kennel chores and am now waiting for Jay to get back home, and then I'll head to the city of the tournament. I'd leave before he gets home, but I have no clue where I'm going and Jay has our GPS (I call her "sally"). I need Sally to help me figure out where I'm going.

Honestly, I can think of a bazillion other things I would rather be doing today. I can think of a bazillion other things I NEED to be doing today. So why am I going when I don't have to? Because he's my son. I only have 4 yrs left to watch him doing things like this, and I don't want us to miss any of it. As we have learned with our daughters, it's over before you know it, and long before you're ready for it. But truthfully, my heart isn't in it. I'm pretty sure I'll go do a little shopping while up there and I'll stop in at the course from time to time to watch a couple of holes here and there, but I'll be ready to head home as soon as he's done.

So the question is....Am I a good mom for going, or a bad mom for not wanting to be there?

An excellent mom because you are going despite the fact that it isn't your favorite activity. =)
