Bread Making Adventure

I finally made my first loaf of bread in the bread machine. I was so excited, it was like Christmas morning around here (well, for me anyhow). Since I'm doing CORE, it's not the traditional flour based bread, but a bread made with Cream Of Wheat. I wasn't sure about it, but decided to have an open mind and I am so glad I did!

I gathered all my ingredients (this particular bread requires a recipe, not a bread machine mix). I dumped all the ingredients into the machine, pressed "Quick Bread" and "Medium" and voila...it starts mixing. I was so excited that I think I let out a little squeal.

A couple of hours later the bread was done. And considering it was my very first loaf, I think it turned out awesome. I waited a little bit to slice it, but not too long so I could be sure it was still warm, because we all know that's when bread is the best! My sister-in-law was here and I let her be my guinea pig...uh, I mean taster, and she really liked it. I liked it too and thought it tasted just like regular white bread (which was her comment as well). However, I am very used to 100% multi-grain or wheat bread, so white bread doesn't taste as appealing to me anymore. However, knowing I can have this over having no bread at all, is exciting.

I didn't want to leave my family out, so I decided to make a loaf of regular white bread. Sure, they were certainly welcome to eat some of the COW bread, but once they figured out it was healthier they gave me a unanimous set of wrinkled noses. Sickened

I wiped out the bread machine and grabbed the mix, the oil, the water and turned the machine on. I heard the motor turning, but nothing was happening with the ingredients. They weren't mixing. What was the problem? While waiting for it to hopefully fix itself, I started to slice the rest of the bread I just made when I stopped because I saw something weird. What could that be? I looked closer and then got the giggles. "I figured out why the bread in the machine isn't mixing" I announced. "Because the mixing blade is still stuck inside this loaf right here."
Belly Laugh ROTFL Laughing 1 Yea, everyong got a good laugh out of that one. Even me. LOL

So, I removed the blade from the loaf, cleaned it and then scrubbed my hands really good. I was not going to waste the mix in the machine, but I needed to get the blade in there. So I used my hands scrubbed clean enough for surgery and put the blade in. Ashley of course found this hysterical and had to get a picture of me doing this. LOL But all was well. I turned on the machine, the bread started mixing and bada-bing....we had fresh white bread. The house smelled so good!

Ashley kept begging me to bake Banana Bread, but I was ready for a break from all the hard work that goes into making bread in a machine, so I said that maybe I'd do it tomorrow. Well she evidentally got tired of waiting for me because she made it herself...including looking online for a recipe for making Banana Bread in the machine. It's still cooking as I write this and oh wow does the house smell fantastic!!
