Snarkiness

I don't know if snarkiness is a word that has ever been used before by anyone other than me, but it probably has. I could have googled it, but to be honest, I don't care. It's a word I use and that's all that matters. For me it means petty, stupid, whining, and moaning.

The reason I bring this up is because I see a lot of snarkiness on the internet. Whether it be on blogs, websites, message boards or forums, it's out there. And I just don't get it. Why do people waste such precious time on it?

For example, I saw on one website where someone was complaining that she knew a lady who got her hair cut just like hers and that wasn't fair because she had it first. Huh? There's a copyright to haircuts now? This lady went on and on with all the reasons why she was wronged.

Snarkiness.

I saw on a blog where one woman went off regarding another blogger stealing her background design. Yes both were pastel in colors, and yes both had flowers. But so what? Are they the only two blogs in the world with pastels and flowers? I'm sure they aren't. Yet they are fighting over who has the right to claim ownership over that background.

Snarkiness.

Then there is another fight over a contest/competition that one site started. Another sight is doing the same thing. Site #1 says site #2 stole their idea. They say they deserve the credit for starting the contest/competition and that #2 should give them the credit. #2 says we didn't steal your idea, we came up with it ourselves. I say ....

Snarkiness.

Seriously, who cares? Do these people really have so little going on in their lives that they choose to get caught up fighting with people they don't even know and will never (in all likelihood) meet in person? Have they forgotten to be grateful for the positive things in their lives? Have they forgotten that there are people who are starving to death or dying of a disease? Have they forgotten that there are people who have lost everything due to lost jobs or weather related tragedies? Have they forgotten that there are men and women who are fighting and dying right now, just so they have the right to own a computer and fight with someone on it?

Snarkiness.

Here's what God thinks about Snarkiness:

Colossians 3:8 - But now you must put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk from your mouth.

Matthew 5:44 - But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you

Leviticus 19:18 - You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against the sons of your own people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord.

Luke 6:27 - But I say to you who hear, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you

I will admit that I have never read the bible in it's entirety. I have tried, I really have, but the Old Testament just loses me completely. The begots and who is of the lineage of who sends my poor brain spinning and I put the bible down. But, even though that's the case, I am willing to bet that nowhere is it listed that snarkiness is ok. As a matter of fact, if you use words other than snarkiness, you'll see it makes Gods top 10 list (commandments). So enough people. Grow up already. Take the blinders off and see the wonderful world around you. There's a wonderful life going on and it doesn't need to include snarkiness. It really doesn't.
