Fair Update Part 2

Here is the wrap-up for the last half of the county fair:

Wednesday 7/23 - This was a very long day. The horse show started in the morning with our niece Jenna singing the national anthem, while Chelsea rode her horse around the arena carrying the american flag along with her. We had halter, showmanship, western pleasure, english, and other classes that lasted all day long. The judge took way too much time and a couple of classes had to be cancelled to allow the queen contestants time to get their hair done and dressed for coronation. Rain threatened all day long to ruin the evening, but thankfully it had passed by the time they were ready to crown the queen and court. Chelsea was named first runner-up and we are so proud of both girls for how they carried themselves. Both were true ladies.
Thursday 7/24 - Both girls had to help passing out ribbons as part of their fair duties still, and later in the afternoon the spanish students and their host families came to the fairgrounds and we all took lots of pictures. By Thursday night Anna looked e-x-h-a-u-s-t-e-d. She seemed to be in a daze. I know from talking to her before that she has a normally slow-paced, relaxing summer. Our summer is anything but that, and the week of the fair is just plain crazy busy. I took her home Thursday night and she went straight to bed and slept over 12 hrs. I did laundry and other things in the morning while she slept. She said it helped a bunch and she felt much better.
Friday 7/25 - Not much goes on for us on this day. The pigs get baths to prepare for the show the next day, which Anna was not in favor of helping with. LOL She did put rubber boots on and helped rinse the pigs, which was more than I thought she'd do, so I was proud of her for doing that much.
Saturday 7/26 - pig show...all day long. Austin won showmanship in his group, which this is his second year doing. He loves knowing all about the pigs and has tons of info stored in that brain of his. He even knows things about pigs that makes me say "How do you know that? And WHY?". Ashley came in 2nd and Chelsea came in 3rd for their class for showmanship. They do a great job as well and the judge remembered them from when they were little.
Sunday 7/27 - The fair winds down. There is a horse show in the morning and the announcer gave each senior members named and said they were doing their last horse show today. It was kind of a tear jerker moment knowing that's another chapter in their lives that is over. After that the parade of champions was held and scholarships were handed out. Both girls recieved a scholarship from the 4-H foundation and were very grateful for that. Sunday evening the animals went home and the booth we decorated a week earlier was taken down.
Monday 7/28 - The livestock auction was held in the morning and by noon the fair was officially over for another year. We came home and did up all of Anna's laundry so she could get packed. We went out to eat supper at Applebees (you can't come to America and not eat an Applebees) and then came home to give her a few small gifts from us. Ashley had a terrible headache so she went to bed, and Chelsea helped Anna get her things packed up.

So that pretty much wraps up the fair for this year. I have a few of the 17,296 pictures (mostly taken by the girls) on a web page that originally held the girls senior pictures. Check it out if you'd like to see some fair pics:
