Ever get the giggles...you know, you start laughing and no matter what, you can't stop? I have a love/hate thing with the giggles. I hate when I get them, but it makes me feel so good that I love getting them. I got them yesterday...boy did I get them.
I needed to run a few errands that I had planned to run last Saturday when we went to the airport to pick up Tucker, but ended up not having the time to. So I thought I would get some muchly needed alone time since I had a headache when I went yesterday. I always ask if anyone wants to go along because, well, a good mom should do that. I know full well the answer will always be NO, and I'm ok with that. Well yesterday Austin said "sure, why not" and Ashley said to Anna "Hey Anna, we're going to Des Moines ok?" and Anna in her sweet voice said "Uh, ok". I stood there with a shocked look on my face. So much for a nice quiet afternoon and getting rid of this annoying dull headache.
On the way there Ashley & Austin sing along to random songs and then performed their own made up medley to Disneys The Lion King songs (I'm still impressed they know so many words to all those songs!) We get to Des Moines and I stop at Barnes & Noble. There was a book I had been wanting and I also wanted to get a book about Iowa for Anna to take home. Ashleys mission was to keep Anna away from me so I could get the book without her seeing me. You have to see Ashley in person when she is in a silly mood to fully appreciate it, but she makes me crack up every time. She starts humming "spy" music and ducking around the store. I can see her and I can only imagine what Anna is thinking of this crazy American girl as Anna calls her. I get the giggles and I can't stop, when all of a sudden yep....as Austin would say "I released a butt bomb". I KNOW everyone does it. I KNOW it's a normal act of the human body, but I still get so embarrassed when it happens to me. And of course, it was a noisy one, so I quickly look around to see if anyone was near me and there stood Austin "MooooooooM!" he laughed. Crap, I would have preferred a stranger nearby, because I knew Austin would never keep quiet. I tried bribery "Austin I will give you my last born childs inheritance if you don't say a word about this", but he was too smart for that and knew right away that HE was the last born child. I decide to just ignore it and act like it's no big deal.
We go to the next store and the 3rd store and then decided to stop for some ice cream on the way home. Ashley thought it was too cold in the shop so she went outside to eat. She wants to talk to Anna but doesn't want to come in and being in the silly mood she is in, decides to try to carry on a conversation through the glass. She even had the shop employees cracking up. Anna was laughing so hard she couldn't eat her ice cream. To try to get her words across, Ashley made up exaggerated actions which made us laugh even harder. All of a sudden it happened again! I was like "ok this is NOT cool!" Anna & Austin heard it and they laughed and laughed while I sat there with my face beet red.
On the way home Austin told Ashley "Hey Ashley guess what? Mom farted at the book store and while we were eating ice cream." I tried to reach over and bop my son, but the squirt stayed out of reach. I feel my face getting hotter so I know I'm turning red. This is like smelling blood to a shark, because Austin knows this bothers me and he feeds off it. He and Ashley then start making up a song about me along the lines of the beatles song Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, "My Mom farted Yeah, Yeah, Yeah". It got sillier and sillier until I laughing so hard I could barely breathe. The song stopped, but I didn't. By then I had a horrible case of the giggles and nothing I did would make them go away. I would take a deep breath and Austin would make a giggle sound and they'd start all over again. My cheeks hurt, my stomach hurt, my back hurt, every fiber in my body hurt from laughing so hard and for so long.
Finally, FINALLY the giggles stopped. I could breathe again. Whewwww. Hey, guess what? My headaches gone. I love the giggles.
