Doing something nice for someone always makes you feel good. Doing something nice for someone without expecting anything in return gives you a warm fuzzy feeling. It's really hard to be stressed when you have the warm fuzzies. So if you want to be stress free today, participate in some sort of random act of kindness.
One of my favorite random acts of kindness is filling up parking meters. I don't go downtown very often, but when I know I will be going there, I bring along a bunch of quarters. When I park, I make sure to park a block or two away from the store(s) I want to go to and I will put a quarter in every single parking meter along the way. When I leave the store, I will walk back to my car on the opposite side of the street and I hit all those meters as well. It makes me smile to imagine someone rushing out to their car, afraid they'll find a ticket under their wiper because they took longer than expected. Instead they find they still have 57 minutes left in their meter. Or someone pulls into a parking spot and digs through their pocket and find they only have a dime. Not enough for how long their errand will take. They have to run that errand so they know they'll just have to risk it. They go to insert their dime and find there is 55 minutes already on there. They add their dime and now they have more than enough time to do what needs to be done.
Yep, warm fuzzies are great for lowering your stress. What are some of your favorite random acts of kindness to do?
