We are heading out to our county fair and I will not have internet access, so my loyal 2 readers will have to do without reading anything from me for a week. There will be a lot going on for our family in the next week. With Ashley & Chelsea both running for County Fair Queen, they will be extremely busy with obligations that go along with the competition. Here's a brief rundown of the rest of our week:
Sun: Decorating 4-H booth, moving in and setting up the camper and officially beginning "Hillbilly Moms Gone Wild" week.
Mon: Exhibit item judging, helping to get all animal stalls cleaned up and ready.
Tues: Queen candidates visit nursing homes. Our 5 horses are brought to the fair and stalled. Fair parade in the evening. Girls will each ride in the back of a convertible as will all contestants. Austin will ride on our 4-H club float. I will sit along the route taking lots of pictures.
Wed: Horse show all day. Lots of different classes including Western & English riding. Queen Coronation ceremony in the evening. Again, I will be taking a bazillion pictures. Sure hope my memory card holds a bazillion. Bring in the pigs, late at night when it's cool, which is easier on them and their stress level (and ours lol)
Thurs: Weigh-in the pigs. Horse show - trail class. Queen and court all help with passing out ribbons at different shows during the week.
Fri: Laundry day. I go home in the morning, quickly do 6,000 loads of laundry and get back to the fair by mid-afternoon. The spanish students will be helping to give the pigs baths for the show the next morning so I will also download my bazillion pictures to have room for a bazillion more, starting with the pig baths.
Sat: pig show. All - day - long. But Saturday night is the culmination of our "Gone Wild" week and we are all so exhausted by this point that the slightest thing sends us ladies into fits of giggles that we can't stop no matter how hard we try.
Sun: Fun horse show day with all different game events: barrels, poles, etc. Also Parade of Champions where exhibitors bring through any animals they have that have won. And any 4-Hers who have graduated are presented with any scholarships they have won related to 4-H. (ppsssttt....Ashley & Chelsea each won one, but they don't know it yet).
Mon: livestock auction and then the sadness begins. It's all over for another year. We pack up the camper, say our good-byes and head home to do another 6,000 loads of laundry.
Tues: We have to be up at 4:00am, to have Anna ready to go. We take her back to the school where we originally picked her up, and she has to be there by 5:00am. The Spanish teacher and her husband will drive all of the spanish students to the airport in Minneapolis. I can't believe it's almost time to say good-bye to her.
I'll see you again on the 29th after a nap (LOL) and I'll have plenty of updates. Until then, I'll leave you with one of those songs that will stick in your head and when you wake up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, you'll find yourself humming it again and again....I know you'll love me for it. hehehe
So long, farewell, Auf wiedersehen, good night.
I hate to go and leave this pretty sight.
So long, farewell, Auf wiedersehen, adieu.
Adieu, adieu, to yieu and yieu and yieu.
I'm glad to go,I cannot tell a lie. I flit, I float, I fleetly flee, I fly.
Good-byeeeeee! Good-byeeeee! Gooood-byyyeeeeee!
