This isn't working

I got my new bifocals last week and, well, to put it simply....I'd like to crush them into tiny pieces! It's not going well between them and myself. I keep trying, but uff da (for you non-norwegians and germans that means we are not having good times in the village).

I have come to realize that I don't hold my head perfectly level. My normal position for me is to have my chin tipped up just a tiny slight amount. It's not noticeable to look at me, and I never knew I did it, but if you are trying to look through progressive bifocals, its very noticeable. Everything from my head up is clear, but everything from about my nose down looks like this picture on the right. I have to tip my head down to look at anything below nose level in order for it to be clear. I have to put my head way down to see my poor dogs on the floor clearly. They told me to just move my eyes, but that doesn't work if you're looking for a toy on the floor because you're dog wants to play fetch. I have always wanted lasik eye surgery, but now I want it more than ever!

The first day I wore them I had such a horrible headache and I was really queasy (which they warned me could happen).By lunchtime on the 2nd day, I couldn't take it anymore and I put my old glasses back on. I actually heard my eyes thanking me. Within a short time the headache went away and my stomach settled down. I am attempting to take my time getting used to them, but it's just not happening. I'm thinking I may have to go back to the eye doctor and do something different. I can't take gettting dizzy any longer. I do like that I can read now without having to remove my glasses, but that's so far been the only positive for me. Well, that, and the fact that they are frameless, which means that they are as close to being invisible as possible. Why no, I'm not vain...why do you ask?

Any of you ever worn or currently wear progressive bifocals? How did it go for you? Did it take a long time to get used to them? Is it considered normal that I'd like to feed them to my lawn mower?
