Stress Free Saturday

Stress has a funny way of sneaking up on you. Life gets busy, and time gets away from you, blah, blah, blah. Nex thing you know, you're knee deep in muck and stressed to the point of feeling like you could pull your hair out, which is almost where I am now. I mentioned a while back in my post Office Ideas why Jay and I needed to go back to having separate offices. I had planned to do it sooner, but as I said before...excuses, excuses, excuses. Well now it's to the point where it's starting to stress me out, and since I knew SFS was coming up, I thought that was a good stresser (I know that's not a real word, but I tend to make up words from time to time) to take care of. I stand at the doorway to the office and I look like the lady in horror flicks when they do a close-up of her screaming. It's getting so cluttered with Jay's stuff and my stuff, and Austin's stuff for school, homework & projects, as well as Chelsea's stuff for school, homework, projects & work. Two of us in one office was bad enough, but 4 of us is enough to make mama lose her mind.

I decided that enough is enough and it's time to make the move. This is a good weekend for me to do that because I won't be going anywhere. Remember the peel I had earlier this week? Yea, well as of yesterday morning I didn't think it was going to be working, but by 11am, I realized just how very wrong I was. I am as flakey as one of my grandma's pie crusts, but not nearly as tasty. I have slathered on so much of the cream they told me to use that I am very shiny and greasy looking, as if I have slathered myself with a 5 gallon drum of sunscreen, but I still keep on flaking. It's lovely folks, let me tell you. Actually, it's pretty embarrassing, which is why I will not be going anywhere this weekend. They said it should only last a couple of days, so by Monday I should be good to go again.
That leaves me with all weekend to get my office put together. Some items had already managed to make their way into that office (fall out from the other office *sigh*), so I spent last night removing them and then I vacuumed and dusted. I hung the new curtains and put the new pillows on the guest bed. When our host student Anna stayed in there, we brought the keyboard into her room because she plays very well and she likes to play. I can't even play chopsticks, so the keyboard went back down to the family room.
This morning I will box up items that are mine and move them into my new office. I bought a new desk and a bookcase yesterday before the peeling started. Check 'em out:
This is my new desk, hutch & bookcase. It's exactly what I wanted, simple and understated. I don't need much room for my laptop, and I don't want a desk taking up a lot of valuable space that a guest might need. The only difference between this picture and what I actually bought is, all the pieces are the same color as the hutch. Why don't websites show items in a set in all the same colors ??? With having the hutch, I don't need a bunch of drawers on the desk, which usually get stuffed with junk I don't want to have to deal with. This way I can't do that, which should help with any clutter that may try to rear it's ugly head. I'm considering hanging corkboard squares from Staples in the open area, so I can have a place for notes, memos, and other important reminders I need. The bookcase is exactly what I was looking for. It's narrow, so again, I don't have to worry about it taking up too much space, yet it's big enough to store all my books. I am so excited that my books will finally have a proper home.

What do you think of my selections?

Since I have 3 rescue bichons and they are dear to my heart, I collect bichon items. Those have been boxed up while we shared the office, but they can now come back out, including the valance my mother made for me with bichon heads on it.

Organzing and decorating my office will be very relaxing for me and I can't wait to really get going on it. I plan to close the door and turn on my ipod. The only distraction I may have is that Ashley said she will be come home sometime today for a visit. I can work on my office anytime, but my baby girl doesn't come home that often.

What are you doing to de-stress youreself?
