Uncle Greg

"Music hath charms to soothe a savage beast, to soften rocks, or bend a knotted oak." William Congreve.

Music also has power to make you relax, take a deep breath and say "aaahhh". Dena

Jay has an Uncle Greg that is one of the most musically talented people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. He really is so gifted at playing a variety of instruments, but the one he plays the most is the Saxophone. I love music and I am always impressed by anyone who can play any kind of instrument, because I can't read music at all. For me, it's like numbers...they just don't make sense. So getting to watch someone with real talent is an extra sweet treat, and Greg has more musical talent in his little toe than I have in my entire body.

A good friend of Greg's (and former band member) owns our town bowling alley and this man has some people who get together and play live music in the bar area of the bowling alley every so often. If Uncle Greg happens to be free and in town, he'll join in with them. It just so happened that he was in town last night, so we went to watch him after the high school football game...what a treat!

I took these pictures with my phone, which explains the poor quality, plus it was dark in there, and you know I have issues with my darn phone, so even though I thought I turned on the flash, it never did actually work. *sigh* I'll say it yet again...I really don't like this phone. But as you can see, these are pictures of Uncle Greg playing his saxophone.

To give you an idea of his talent, I made a recording (also with my phone) during a couple of songs the band played. One features Greg with a saxophone solo, and the other was a song with a Latin flair that features Greg playing the flute. I have now made 3 or 4 videos with my phone and they have all been fairly good quality, but as you will see...this one is bad. I don't know why it recorded with such a bad picture, but the sound quality is great. So, sit back, close your eyes and enjoy some high quality tunes!

My bad luck seem to be continuing....for some reason blogger keeps saying I have an error when I try to upload the video. I added it to youtube, but it won't let me add it here. *sigh* So, I'm sorry, but you'll just have to click on the link to go see it for yourself. Remember, bad picture... great sound.

Dena, he IS really good, even if we couldn't see him very well. Isn't it fun to have a relative so talented? I had an uncle who played piano like crazy.
