Sleep Deprivation

Definitions of Sleep Deprivation:

1. A sufficient lack of restorative sleep over a cumulative period so as to cause physical or psychiatric symptoms and affect routine performances of tasks.

2. A form of psychological torture inflicted by depriving the victim of sleep.

3. The forced deprivation of someones necessary amount of sleep.

4. A chronic lack of sufficient restorative sleep.

Aaaahhh...good times.

My son is on the freshman boys basketball team at his high school. They practice before school. Which in case you are unaware, means that he practices in the wee early mornings. Before the sun is up. Before roosters are even awake. My alarm goes off at 4:45.

4:45 AM

My dad had a name for someone who just woke up and was looking very disheveled. He'd say "You look like the hag of the month".

People....I look like the hag of the month.

Funny thing is, I'm too tired to care.

The bags under my eyes, have bags of their own.

Number 3 that is listed above goes on to say this: The forced deprivation of someones necessary amount of sleep has been used in the interrogation of terrorist suspects to make them more amenable to providing information or confessions.

I'm being treated like a terrorist suspect.

I'm being tortured.

There have been many basketball games that were postponed due to bad weather earlier in the season. They have to get them made up and the season is getting closer to coming to an end. That means games are piled on top of each other, back to back. Therefore, not only are we awake before any farm animals, we are also in the gym every night. Many nights we have my sons game at 4:00pm and then we are there the rest of the night watching 3 other games. Supporting his team, his teammates, his school.

I am not a terrorist

I am sleep deprived.

I need a nap.

I am SSOOOOO unbelievably envious of your cat. That looks so comfortable. Are your eyes crossing yet? Mine are.

zzzzzzzzzzz...

20 minute power naps work great for me. Sounds like you're probably beyond that now. You've crossed the line to needing a 20 hour nap. Hope it comes soon!
