yes,this works (at least somewhat)I do the same thing,for making potato salad,however use nice and gently scrape the peeling off-to do as they say-because the inside of potato is still very hot-watch for getting burned as you slide off. Have never tried totally as they say because of extreme heat,just know it works to scape gently - really easy.
No I haven't tried it myself, but I have a friend (the one who sent me the link) who has and she swears that it works. She never mentioned anything about getting burned, but it does sound like good advice to go slowly so that doesn't happen.
