Project 365 ~ Week 20

Wow....week 20? For real? Doesn't seem possible we're that far into the year already!

Sunday - 5/9

Happy Mothers Day! I had been talking about how someday I'd love to have an outdoor lounge chair that I could relax in...and guess what I got for Mothers day! I was so excited! Plus, they even bought an extra cushion so that on days I'm feeling extra sore, I can still soak up the Vitamin D.

Later in the day our church youth group had a picnic at the park. We grilled meat and everyone enjoyed all the good food. Then the fun began as lots of games were played. This is a shot of Michelle, our Youth Director, whom we dearly love. She is the biggest kid of them all!

Monday - 5/10

Today I picked up Ashley from the airport as she returned home from her honeymoon in Hawaii. Sadly, she had to leave Lance behind as he had to finish up his desert training, which made for a very long emotional day/night for her. I was glad she had the love of her family to help her through it.

Tuesday - 5/11

Today my "baby" turned 17. I still can't believe he's almost all grown up already. *sniff* He had another golf meet today and did great!

Since it also happened to be his coaches birthday, I made cupcakes and put plastic golf balls on each. There are 7 guys on the team (including the coach) and there were 3 cupcakes left out of 2 dozen. LOL

Wednesday - 5/12

Today was Fibromyalgia Awareness Day.

Thursday - 5/13

Today was the sectionals tournament for Austin's golf team.  We had no individual golfers make it on to Districts, and our team unfortunately didn't make it either. Austin personally had a rough day, and he really took it hard as he felt he let not only himself down, but that he let the team down. His frustration and disappointment could be seen on the last few holes. I felt so bad for him.

Friday - 5/14

Lance told Ashley that they go through socks, t-shirts and shorts very quickly overseas, so each month she is to send him more. She now has a military ID and she has to go on a local base to buy the items needed. They were out of a couple of things, so they were ordered and delivered to our home this morning. She then got them re-packaged and ready to send out to him on Monday morning.
After that she sent him a message to let him know it would be on it's way. She's learning quickly what it means to be a military wife, and the responsibilities that go along with it. :)

Saturday - 5/15

We went to Thomas' graduation party in the afternoon. Thomas' mom and Jay are first cousins, and we have had the awesome pleasure of living close enough to have gotten to watch Thomas grow into the awesome young man he is today. Sorry your blurry Thomas. ha!

We left there and took Austin to pick up the new truck he bought. Well, it's not new, but new to him. He hates the idea of having to sell his camaro, but this will be so much better on snow and ice than it was. He's super excited!

That was our week! Head on over to Sara's through the link in the sidebar to see other pictures!

At the moment they have been told that he'll be in Afghanistan until sometime in December. Then he'll go to Japan until next Spring. But, as we've warned her - don't consider that set in stone. The military can change their minds anytime they want.

I really feel for Ashley - can't even imagine how hard it is for her (and him!).

I think three cupcakes per person is perfectly reasonable LOL.

So purple for Fibromyalgia...and an extra cushion! So thoughtful.
Sweet Ashley...still better to love and hurt, than to never have loved.
And you are the amazing mom who can comfort all, make cupcakes for all and tell us all through your great photos!
Thanks!

Umm...I think your dog is claiming the chair...

Sad for Ashley. You're right, though. She is learning quickly...how to be a blessing to her husband. God be glorified!!

So sorry Austin had such a bad golf day. That's got to be hard. That cool truck ought to help a little, though.
