It's Sunday, and it's supposed to be a day of rest, but I think I worked harder today than I have all week! The guys were in a golf tournament and the girls were over to my SIL's house to see our neices. I ran some errands thinking I could make it a quick trip....again I'll say "yeah right". I have a security camera I want to put up in the kennel. I want it to point outside so that if I'm in my office in the house working on the computer, I can see if a client pulls in. All I wanted was a simple black & white small tv...doesn't even need sound, just a decent picture. I try the obvious places...goodwill, Wal-Mart, Target & K-Mart, but nothing there, so I headed to Best Buy. A man approaches and here is how our conversation goes:
Him: Can I help you find something?
Me: Yes, I'm looking for a small inexpensive black and white tv.
At this point he looks at me like I've grown a third eye out of my forehead and I swear he even cocked his head a little to the side.
Him: Ma'am, we don't sell black & white tvs anymore.
Me: ok, how about inexpensive? Do you sell those?
Him: Here, let me show you this great high def flat-screen.
Now it's my turn to cock my head
Me: "high def??????"
Him: Yes ma'am, it gives you a much clearer crisper picture.
Me: Oh, ok, but I don't need that.
Him: But you'll love it.
Me: But I don't need it.
Him: Once you try it, you will never go back to regular tv.
Me: I'm sure it's great, if I NEEDED that, but all I need is a small screen, no bells, no whistles, and no high def, whatever that is.
Him: How about this widescreen 20" flat screen?
Me: Is that a tv???? I'm looking for plain and simple, square shaped and smaller.
Him: Well, here's a 5" screen and here's one that has a 7" screen.
Me: squinting to see the screen at all... Since I don't own a magnifying lens, we're going to have to go a little bigger than that.
At this point he sighs
Him: How about if I just let you look around a while.
FINALLY...that's what I wanted in the first place! Within 3 min I am up at the checkout with a simple 13" screen tv and the gal at the counter says:
"Do you realize this isn't high def? Would you like me to show you one that is?"
I really gotta look that up and find out what it is. LOL All I know is that I have my camera hooked up and my tv sits on my computer desk, just off to the side. Why in the world were they trying to make it so difficult?
