Thanksgiving Review

Thanksgiving Day started off a little uncertain for me, and I wondered if we would have to end up cancelling our plans. I woke up around 2:30am and couldn't get back to sleep. By 3:00, I was feeling very queasy and worried that I might be getting the flu. I got sick to my stomach around 4:30, and after that I felt totally fine. I have no idea what that was all about, but I was relieved that it was short lived.
We ended up with both sets of parents, Jay's grandparents & Jay's uncle with us for the day. We had so much yummy food that it was crazy! Crazy good that is! For me, the best part was that my mom made her 7-layer salad that is my all-time favorite. I love it so much that I went back for seconds on it. And then, I had it later for dessert. And by later, I mean that as soon as the last bite was swallowed, I grabbed some more. Seriously, it is that good. That night I had that salad for my supper. I didn't even have any pumpkin pie...just more salad!
The highlight for most people appeared to be Candy Corn. This little guy ended up serving an entire large bag over the course of the day!

After we were all done eating, we spent a relaxing afternoon visiting. Some watched football, some played with the dogs, some just sat around the table talking.
Austin went outside to enjoy the unseasonably beautiful weather....

While Ashley & Chelsea introduced my parents to the joy of text messaging.

By that evening, we said our good-byes to everyone, and then began the job of bringing out the Christmas decorations from the storage room. I was giddy with excitement over decorating, but I was also so tired from being up since 2:30am, that I left the boxes sitting in the living room.
Yesterday most of the decorating got done, and we'll put the tree up tonight. I'm also planning to take pictures of the kids today to be used in our Christmas cards.
No, I did NOT go shopping yesterday, although Austin & I did make one fast trip last night to a small Wal-Mart not far from us to grab a couple of things. Thankfully, there is a Super Wal-Mart on the other side of town, so this one wasn't crowded at all.
I read that there was a Wal-Mart employee trampled to death on Black Friday, and that not only makes me sad for her family, but sad to think that we live in a world where we put so much of an emphasis on "things" that we are willing to be part of a stampede, like a bunch of wild animals. And that an innocent, hard working woman had to lose her life for our stupidity and greed.
I hope you all had an awesome Thanksgiving as well!!

We did have a great Thanksgiving! I can't believe you got sick and then were able to eat that same day...that's determination! :-)

Okay, and so when exactly will you be posting what was in this exceptional salad?

And I feel the same about the stampede...that's just insane. Except I heard it was a 34 year old man...were there two? Sheesh.
